Children from as young as 3 can start learning the special structured programme in our language centre. The school “Znaniye.Oxford” operates as a Saturday school. The day starts at 10:00 am and finishes at 14:00 pm. There are five lessons per day. One of them is art lesson, which helps to gain a Russian vocabulary through art. Our lessons are lively and dynamic, helping fast progress. The lessons are structured using a precise list of vocabulary and phrases with which a pupil is expected to be familiar by the end of each stage of learning. Pupils learn to communicate, they learn to listen, observe and imitate. They look for clues to help them to understand – they learn to interpret gesture, expression and body language and to respond within the context of the conversation. We encourage our children to express themselves in Russian as much as possible and not to worry too much about making mistakes. Russian used as much as possible for instructions and easy phrases. However, English is used too, as it is important for your child to understand exactly what is said and what is expected of him/her. Children learn that they need to practice. Practice takes many forms, from exercise, games, activities, art and music lessons andbooks. Being actively involved means having fun and feeling confident. The structure of each lesson involves repetition and reinforcement in order to build confidence, but new vocabulary is also introduced during every lesson. Each Saturday is varied with songs, games, stories, role-plays and drama. Pupils are introduced to the written form, but always through a fun activity. We present basic grammar through the language activities so that it is taken on board naturally as part of the process of learning to communicate. We are encouraging parents to be actively involved in supporting their children and practice Russian at home. The education process aims at:
